MEETING OF THE MITCHELL PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES, TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 13TH, 2007.
The Mitchell Public Library Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, November 13th, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. in the community room at the Mitchell Public Library. Board president Blumer called the meeting to order.
Members present: Blumer, Claggett, Margheim, Molumby, Taylor.
Members absent: Lapka
Minutes. Minutes of the October 9th, 2007 board meeting were read and approved.
M/S/P—Molumby, Margheim.
Director’s report. The Director’s report was approved as given.
Personnel. The Director reported the Lorene Dickerman resigned her position as Library Assistant II last month. Clarence Larsen was hired to fill the position.
New business. The Board discussed the possibility of having a fine-free event.
Ideas included having a fine-free event either one day a week, a month, or a quarter.
Another idea was to hold the Food for Fines event again this year. The Board approved a motion to conduct the Food the Fines drive. All cans collected will be donated to the Mitchell Food Pantry. M/S/P—Margheim, Claggett.
The subject of allowing checkout privileges for those students who go to school in the Mitchell School District but live outside Davison County was discussed. The reasoning was that students who attend D.W.U. and MTI can check out materials from Mitchell Public Library, but those students who go to school in the Mitchell School District but don’t live in Davison County have to pay. The number of students who would fall under this category would be small. A motion was approved to allow this change. M/S/P—
Taylor, Claggett.
The Christmas holiday schedule was discussed. A suggestion was made to the Board that the library be closed on Sunday and Monday, December 23rd and 24th. Another city department is considering that option. If approved, it would make the holiday closings among city departments more uniform. A motion was made to table the subject until the next meeting. M/S/P—Molumby, Taylor.
