The Mitchell Public Library Board of Trustees meet every second Tuesday of the month at 5:00pm. To view the minutes of the meetings select the year and then the date of the meeting. MEETING OF THE MITCHELL PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES, JULY 10TH, 2007.
The Mitchell Public Library Board of Trustees met on Tuesday, July10th, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. in the community room at the Library.
Members present: Blumer, Claggett, Lapka, Margheim, Taylor.
Members absent: Molumby.
Minutes. The minutes of the June 12th, 2007 board meeting were read and approved.
They are on file at the Library. M/S/P--Claggett, Margheim
Director’s Report. The Director’s report was approved. In addition to the report, the following report was given on the Summer Reading Program. A total of 735 children from ages 2 through the 12th grade have participated in the Summer Reading Program.
Mr. Twister and Detective Iwannano were 2 special programs that were presented as part of the Summer Reading Program. 350 children attended the Mr. Twister program and 165 attended the Detective Iwannano program. Children can attend the program on the rodeo on July 20th, and Jim Oliver, puppeteer and Children’s Librarian at Siouxland Libraries will be presenting a puppet show at the end of the Summer Reading Program.
Unfinished business. No contact has been received from the person from the Master Gardeners class that was supposed to help the Library with the landscaping.
New business. The final 2008 budget was discussed. 2 major items were added. The cost of carpeting was added to the budget. The cost for a new boiler was added as well. The budget was approved. M/S/P Taylor, Claggett.
The volunteers that help at the Library were discussed. They are Rosie Cox, Donna Wieczorek, Irene Bechtel, and Betty Dobberpuhl. It was the consensus of the Board to place a thank you in the paper from the Library and the Board.
A collection development policy was given to the board to be discussed at next month’s meeting.

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, August 14th, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. in the community room at the Mitchell Public Library.
