Area Teens are invited to participate in the Mitchell Public Library’s Summer Reading Program, “Joust Read.” The program runs from June 20th to July 30th. Teens are invited to come to the library and take part in special events offered throughout this time. Registration will start on May 19, 2005.Teens can pick up a Joust Reading Log at that time and can begin reading to earn books. Registration can be done online or at the Mitchell Public Library. Joust Reading Logs and Fun Sheets can be printed off the fun sheet web site. Teens will earn books by reading or listening to books, reading magazines or newspapers, completing fun sheets, doing book reviews, and doing crafts.
The teens are invited to a special program on July 15th. During the summer teens can work on decorating a castle in the library. Medieval merchant crafts will be featured this summer. Some of the supply donations needed this summer are large clean plastic laundry detergent containers, foil pans, foil trays, small cardboard boxes, and various size beads and jewels. THE SWORD IN THE STONE
The Traveling Lantern Theatre Company presents the play “The Sword in the Stone” on Thursday, July 28 at 2:00 pm. For children from grades K-8. (site to be announced) Sponsored by Mitchell Parks and Recreation and the Mitchell Public Library.
FAMILY CASTLE-MAKING CONTEST!!!
Get your family together and design a castle made from ALL RECYCLED ITEMS in your house. It should be big enough to display on the tops of the shelving in the Children’s and Young Adult areas in the library, but no bigger. Castles should be completed and on display by Saturday, July 16. The week of July 18 – 22 judges will choose the winning castle. Further details at the Library!
